pet scans

My father oncologist decided he had to test my fathers bones for bone cancer this week.
After having come out of the coma and learning to walk he had a nasty fall a couple of weeks ago and broke his arm.
A pet scan was done and the area of the brake light-up.
I had already investigated pet scans a little a couple of weeks ago and found that increased cell production such as healing tissue, inflammation cause things to "light-up" on pet scans - something I asked the doctor about and he admitted that most likely what was lighting up was the bone growing together.
I'm now wondering what other things can light up in your body that can be mistaked for cancer.
Do things like athsma light up? Or the liver regenerating?!
