Ok, I'm going to try for the thrid time to post a message. Has anyone had anything else besides barium with this test. When in baltimore they let me use gastrogastin but here in SC they only want to use the barium. I can't understand this since the barium is so horrible.

I have had several CT scans and have only taken barium. There is a berry flavor that they give me and while it tastes terrible it is much more palable than the original.

I get the barium (by enema) and an imaging dye (by IV) for my CT scans.

I get TRIPLE contrast for my CT's - Oral (I have to drink that lovely stuff), IV AND enema. I've had so many CT's with so much contrast in the last 8 years I'm surprised I don't glow when I'm in the dark!!
    Hugs :)

When I had my CT scan Oct 26th, I drank a "tropical berry" liquid barium...not the thick stuff. It was more like Gatorade actually. It was quite palatable...one cup every 20 mins an hour and a half before the procedure. Hope you have that where you are!
