CT scan report

The CT scan showed that the three liver tumors are still there and larger than last June in spite of the radio frequency ablation and chemo. My low dose chemo was cancelled and obviously the taxol and carboplatin did not work on the liver. (Maybe not ovarian there?) I will probably be given a different chemical that I have not heard of on this site and can't remember the name of but will have to wait until my oncologist confers with the surgeon in Dallas. Should know by Monday afternoon. I am calm and keeping this in God's hands. One day at a time.

    Saundra:
I'm sorry you did not get the results you were hoping for, but now at least you will have an opportunity to try one or two of the many other options out there. You may be right - maybe the liver situation is not ovarian related, thus explaining why it didn't respond. Now your doctors can be very specific to meet each need.

I am inspired by your 'one day at a time' outlook. I truly agree. Sometimes for me, it is one 'moment' at a time.

    God bless.

    Hugs and prayers,
    Monika

Saundra, Bummer news, a sure disappointment. Do you have pain at the area of the liver? My first recurrence was to the liver and I had been taking all the tests for stomach ulcers. It showed up in the ct scan and the oncologist ordered a ct-assisted liver biopsy to be sure that it was ovarian cancer cells, not a new cancer. Have you had a liver biopsy?

Good on you for sending a calm thought out here. You are facing your greatest fears bravely and moving forward with faith. This is all any of us can do. Paula2

    Dear Saundra,
I truly wish you the best. Like someone else said, your strength has truly been an inspiration to others, like me and my mom. I hope the drug they decide to give you works on the tumors on the liver. The same thing happened to my mom, the carbo/taxol seemed to work great but since there are different populations of cancer some do not respond to those drugs. Keep the faith and we will be thinking of you!

Just to show how futile worry is, I have found out from three sources that ct scans can not tell the difference between solid tumors and fluid filled spaces. Since I had the three liver tumors burned out at my debulking surgery with radio frequency ablation, doesn't it make sense that these may be the holes filled with fluid left behind. My oncologist thinks so too. The radiologist that read the scan did not know that I had had radio freq. abalation on my liver so we have hope anew. I am supposed to hear somethink today.

My liver tumors responded well (size cut by more that half) with the first 4 treatments. Then during the surgery, they burned them out with radio frequency abalation and said they got them all. Then four more chemos. I think they are holes filled with fluid since my CA-125 has stayed at 6 for the last three chemos.

Saundra, You have demonstrated the importance of a positive attitude, patience and strength. Sometimes it takes a while for the medical team to sort out what is going on and to work out the best options to manage this horrible disease. All the best. Irene
