The same thing happened to me approximately ten days after surgery. As it turned out I had infection once they did a stool culture antibiotics were prescribed and the problem was solved. At that time I also dropped 13 pounds in three days, you may want to contact your DR thirty times a day is way to much. .

One more thing get some Imodium. Also bananas are very good in helping to bulk up the stool and are full of potassium. Make sure your sister is getting plenty of fluid so she does not dehydrate.Lisa Rose said:The same thing happened to me approximately ten days after surgery. Hello. I had my entire colon removed except for 6 inches of rectum 11 days ago - no stoma, as they connected the small intestine to the remaining rectum. For the first several days after my bowels started back up I had to go 24-30 times a day myself (same thing..little warning). It has gotten better every day, and now with the help of 2 Imodium (1 in the morning and one at night), I am am down to 8 - 10 BMs a day with warning. My guess is it will get better for your sister quickly as time passes. Also I would HIGHLY recommend the Imodium.

Hey, just wanted to let you know, I lost my rectum 1 year ago and the exact same thing happened to me. I did turn out to have an infection (CDiff) but unfortunately thought the infection didn't help my cause when i was treated and recovered from it, the frequency did not decline much. It went on for a few months and I had many demeaning moments where I didn't make it But I can say that it does get better...it takes a lot of time. I am still not normal and never will be, but I will take 5 times a day over 30 like it was. Tell her to hang in there and I completely understand how she feels. Take care!!!0
