Adequate intake of vitamin D may help prevent cancer, according to a new study. A number of 600,000 cases a year of breast and colorectal cancer could be prevented each year if vitamin D3 levels met the target proposed by researchers, said the study by researchers at the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). The effect of Vitamin D3 is more evident in countries north of the equator. Vitamin D3 is available through diet, supplements and exposure of the skin to sunlight. "For the first time, we are saying that 600,000 cases of breast and colorectal cancer could be prevented each year worldwide, including nearly 150,000 in the United States alone," said Cedric F.Garland, a cancer prevention specialist at UCSD. The paper, which looks at the dose-response relationship between vitamin D and cancer, will be published in the August edition of the journal Nutrition Reviews.

Dancing in the sun sounds like fun. This way we would get to choose the kind of cancer we want to have. Let's see skin cancer from dancing naked outside or colon cancer from staying inside. m m m m

The ragweed and other pollens used to bother me; they's call me names, take my lunch money, knock my books to the ground; but I asked my friend Vinny to have a "talk" with them... they don't bother me anymore. The are quite nice in fact. "Hello, Mr. SpongeBob" "How are you today, Mr. SpongeBob?" "There's no need to have Mr. Vinny come around and see us anymore, Mr. SpongeBob."

What kind of brass nuckles did you buy? I'm planning to have something called Low Dose Allergy treatment which is an injection with 100's of things in it that people are allergic to. FDA does not aprove of it so of course my insurance won't pay. I had several BC(before cancer) 2 years ago and they work. MY big dilemma now is that if I get the injection on the 7th like I want to, then I won't be able to drink any alcohol for 3 weeks after. Do you know what that means for Nashville? Maybe if you would just talk to Vinny for me he could arrange it. Being out in the middle of the ocean is another option I guess. Do they have any jobs for 62 year old women in the Coast Guard?

HA! I'm sure we could find you something to do - although there are days when you would swear you just downed a dose and a half of chemo because you feel so sick!

What if we hook-up a martini IV for you? Then you won't be "drinking" alcohol!

Hummmm, a LITTLE suspicious....University of WHERE???? The GOLDEN state???? Land of sunshine and money?

Actually, I think I remember reading that we can get our daily allotment of D from 10 minutes in the sun, twice a day....sorry, alta...not enough for a tan...lol!
