Topsy Turvy Day.. but all is Good
I had a day today. It was my two year mammogram day. My appointment was at 3pm... So of course I drove myself nuts for most of the day... then 3pm got here... We did the normal... well normal number for now of mammograms... and I waited on pins and needles and the Tech came back and said got to do more... YIKES... so we did them and I waited again... wonder why 10 minutes can seem like an hour.... then she comes back with another Tech with her... as soon as I saw a second person.. I about died... that was how they told me when I was diagnosed... but turns out they were just still worried about a spot that was where my scar tissue was... so I was on to get a sonigram... While she was doing that she told me my heart was really beating fast.... I went like DUH... No joke... she told me she thought the sonigram was OK... but needed the Doctor read... Then she comes back with the Doctor in tow.... As it turns out all is OK... except they want to see me in 6 months just to make sure no changes in the area where the scar tissue is.... So a 6 months reprieve I get. The last time I was on top of the world... and this time I don't think I am worried... but I sure would have liked for the day to have gone smoother... but hey... I would rather that they be cautious...
Thanks for listening...all... It does help to share this... I won't tell my parents or my son they will just get too worried for no good reason... So you guys are my outlet.
Take Care... and God Bless....
Susan

OMG, Susan. I can just imagine how that felt. I hope you rewarded yourself with something special when you got home. YOu are marvelous for holding it together like that. I can tell you when I was told that had to have another biopsy in the other side, I fainted from the shock. Congratulations on anohter 6 months.

Hi Susan! I think you are reacting perfectly normal considering what you have gone thru. I go thru that every year! I'm going for my 7 year mammo and US in July. I seem to get worse every year. I literally shake while I'm waiting and last year I actually cried. The MD asked me if this is happening all the time! I said,"No, just when I come here!"I actually had a car accident on my way last year as I was thinking about the mammo and got lost and decided to make a turn and turned into a truck!I think this beast really does a number on us, no matter how good you feel. Thank god your results are good. Relax and enjoy! HUGS!! Cathy0

Dear Susan,
I was last operated on in Oct. 2002, but they found a similar "spot" of calcifications on the opposite side about a year later. I totally fell apart. I mean, all the fears I went through over the previous summer and fall hit me all at once and I could hardly breathe. This year they finally moved me back from every 6 months to only once a year, so I guess they figure everything is stable. Mind you, the nightmares still start the week before every test and now I have CAT scans every 3 months for lung cancer, but that's a different story!!! My blood pressure goes wild when I have tests and I know it is the fear trying to get at me. I hope you do reward yourself after such a trying day. I try to concentrate on the great restaurant we go to after the test to make it through my tests. It doesn't always work, but it helps!0 -

I've been away for quite awhile dealing with my own health issues. I am sorry your mammagram visit was so eventful, however you made my day reading your message. I have had breast cancer in each breast. I just tell people I have a match set. Every year I go in for my mammogram there is always something they want to look at, just to be safe. Those words make me break out in a sweat, hormone issues, and my mind goes so many directions I find it hard to calm down. I always end up with extra mammogram pictures and a trip to the ultrasound room. I have a yearly chest x-ray, they always do extra pictures. It makes you want to run out of the building screaming or crying by the time they are done. It is nice to know other women feel the same as I do each year. My husband is in the Air Force, we move a lot so I every few years I have new doctors who don't understand how stressful this is for me. Thank you so much for making me feel not so crazy.0
