Hi everyone!
I had my second treatment of Carbo/Taxol on Monday. Since I had a bit of a breathing problem last time, they got me taking the pre-chemo drug (Dacadron) for the next 2 morning as well. It seems to be working. My breathing is pretty even, but the nauesa is starting to catch up with me now. It hasn't been too bad so far. It comes and goes, but it does keep my appatite down. Someone recommended peppermint oil for the nausea, and sniffing it seems to help between doses of Compazine. My last labs came back good, along with the EKG, so no serious worries: Both my liver and heart look ok. I am a bit anemic, but RBC not low enough for my insurance to cover the meds, which after reading about the side affects I'm not so sure I want.

Saundra,
I love the picture! Certainly can see the family resemblance! LOL I think sense of humor is very important in general, but when we go through this stuff it's a MUST! Keep it up girl!

I had my hubby take a baldy picture of me the other day, and he sneeked in a few more while I wasn't looking. I'll try uploading one later.

Hugs to all!
~Marianna~

I am sorry that you are having some trouble with nausea. Try some ginger or ginger tea. It seems to help settle your stomach. I will look for your "baldy" pictures! And yes a sense of humor helps!
Take care and hugs to you!!

So glad to hear you're doing reasonably well! I always keep Altoids handy - my purse, by my bed too. I let them slowly dissolve in my mouth and it helps the nausea. It actually soothes me a little to help me sleep also. Ginger, as recommended by Jami is good too. The Compazine is good, and so is Zofran, which now comes in generic form and is less costly. They have one that just melts under the tongue, so no need to take water, especially if you're queasy already!
Well, hugs to you and prayers that your treatments will continue to be 'major event free'.
    Luv ya!

Hi, glad to hear all is going ok. I was on decadron as well. Are you taking Emend for the nausea??? It's 3 little pills, costs 50.00 with insurance but worth every cent. It really helped, and I would then use my Compazine for break through nausea.Nausea was the least of the side effects when I was on carbo/taxol...especially with the Emend...Good luck..sending love and prayers(((((hugz)))..Joanne

Marianna, Both jami and mopar gave you some good recommendations. I would just add keep sipping liquids - it is important after the chemo. I particularly like iced green tea and seemed to help ease nausea.

Keep up the wonderful attitude and you'll be done with treatment before you know it. Hugs N Prayers Bonnie

PS I have to tell everyone that one day last week a nest blew out of a tree and it was lined with hair. How refreshing to see the birds really did want our fallout. :-)
