We've just found out that my niece was tested positive for TB.. and she is now awaiting her chest x-ray results. Should I be concerned with being near her, because of my husbands condition?

No one should be near your niece until her diagnosis is confirmed. I am surprised her doctor did not tell her that. TB is spread through the air and is highly contagious---it is the one disease that in the dental world where we practice universal precautions for infection control you cannot see a patient with active TB. It is very possible that your niece may have been exposed to TB and tested positive, but may not have TB, but you should be very careful till the tests are completed. Good luck-let us know.
