Jojo wait for the scans to come back before deciding. But here what happened to me and a few friends.
No mets and I have found that they always irradiate the prostatic bed just to be safe. I am not convinced by this it did nothing to my psa and gave me an irradiated bowel and much later a loss of stamina but that might be just me.
If there are mets after the scan they (in the US) will recommend lupron with casodex (prevents tumour flare). Lupron is part of the LHRH analogue family and they are not nice. In the UK we are given the option to be treated just with Casodex which in my case caused my psa to go to zero (my mets are in the lymph system). I now do 3 months on Casodex and then off for as long as my psa stays below 0.03 and then I go back on for 3 months. Casodex has some side effects - enlarged and sore breasts, weight gain but nothing like Lupron. By the way except for the damage done by the radiation I am well and getting on with life.
Best wishes to you and your family0 -
I just completed the radiation after the exact same numbers as yours, after the surgery. I just tested for the first time post 6 weeks from treatment and my level was 0.1, I am waiting for another test on aug. 10th, until then I just keep a postive attitude. The radiation was 40 treatments for me, I got very tired and had bowel problems but I am fine now with the exeption of being out of shape. I am 540
