Lizper,
I,myself can't say from personal experience, but I kow I have read quite a few cases, where there was a recurrence followed by a nice long remission. How's your mom holding up?? I'm sure she's as scared as you. I've been thinking and praying for you both..(((hugz)))..Joanne0 -

Tks 4 your prayers, we are both sad, scared, worried and wondering what to expect. It was such a disfortune 4 her not to have surgery plus IP chemo, this would have had control of the disease...but we were scared off the risk after what she went through. Now I don't know what is going to happen. I hope we made a good choice.
Are you taking Gemzar alone? My Mom is having Gemzar plus Carboplat on 1 day then after a week they reinforce Gemzar then she will rest 2 weeks. She has had nausea, very very tired and today she had strong abdominal pain and had to take a pill. Could this be because of chemo?
How are you doing? Prayers going your way to. LIZ0 -

I was told cure was off the table because of the recurrence within months of the original tx. I am on Gemzar only at this time, I receive it weekly for 3 weeks then am off for one week. I was having bad pains also in the abd. at first as well, and my Onc put me on Miriacle Lax....Gemzar is very constipating...he said I was f.o.s. which means full of shi**!!! He was right..and now I feel much better. I did try colace (a stool softner) but it did not work...the other stuff I mentioned is great!!! I would definely call the Dr. and see what he has to say....good luck---sending big cyber ((((hugz)))..Joanne0 -
Liz, I don't know if it helps you, but I know that cancer is considered a chronic disease, and that no one is guaranteed a cure. I've seen time and again in magazine articles and other place of folks who are "cured" of different types of cancer, but the best I've been offered is that I "may" have a cure. There are many women who have long episodes of remission, and I'm sure a good many who are actually cured.0

My experience had been about an 18 month remission after the initial surgery/chemo ttmt. The first recurrance was after that. Remission time can become shorter and shorter between treatments. I've had two additional surgeries and after the 3rd one, I didn't seem to have any remission time and have been on various chemos for almost a year. I'm no longer expecting remission from treatments but stability of the disease. Keep it in control. Everyone is different and staying positive is essential to your well being.
