Who can tell me if you are origanally found with superficial liver mets and mets on diaphragm, is this considered stage IIIC or stage IV? I have heard different opinions on this. LIZ

I just looked it up real quick. Stage 4 is tumor in the Liver, or metastases to distant area like the lungs. also if in the lungs and there is a pleural effusion it must have a cytolgy test for OVCA cells. I know this is confusing. I had metastases to lymph nodes as well as bowel, but I'm still staged 3c. My Onc said stage 3c and 4 are very close in dx. and are treated the same and have the same outcome. He said because it wasn't in my liver or lungs I was a stage 3c. Hope this helps..Joanne

Tks Joanne, My Mom had mets to bowel, diaphragm and on liver (not in).. so her Oncologist (the one who gives her chemo) said she was 3c (that he knew, because my Mom had initial surgery thinking it was a colon problem so had a CD of the laparascopy) but the surgeon whom with she had sls reported it as 3B after seeing that CD(so I'm confused). but tks.. anyway as you say there the same outcome.
