Questions for stage III and / recurrance

Hi Liz. I'll try to answer some of your questions. I was diagnosed stage IIIC in 2001 and had my first reoccurence almost 1 year after the first chemo which was Taxol/Carboplatin. The next chemo was the same because it was almost a year later. Then a second reoccurence six months after that, then I was treated with topotecan which gave me a 4 month remission, then the third reoccurence was treated with cistplatin/Gemzar and I am now on my 4th reoccurence and being treated with an oral drug called hexalen which seems to be working. And here it is six years later and I'm still here and there are many women out there that haven't had this many reoccurences so don't give up hope. There are many drugs to use. I've gotten this far with lots of family support and prayers and I'm not giving up. One of these times, it won't come back. I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers. Take care. Polly0

Hi Liz, I am an stage3c survivor also. I recurred in 7 months after first chemo. I have been on 7 different chemos and still going. I am a survivor of just over 4 years. I live inspite of having ovca. One can manage the disease for a long time. Hugs N Prayers Bonnie0

Hi Bonnie. What I'm concerned is I live in Mexico so I'm not contemplating any trials, there are none here. Where the 7 different chemos you have used normal drugs for OVCA or where any trials. Tks. May prayers to you too.BonnieR said:Hi Liz, I am an stage3c survivor also. I recurred in 7 months after first chemo. I have been on 7 different chemos and still going. Tks for sharing your story. Where did they dx your reoccurence? These drugs you mention are they any clinical trials, because unfortunately that is not an option for us since we live in Mexico. Is it true that the longest remission you can get would be the 1st?. You are in my prayers too. Lizshortstuff said:Hi Liz. I'll try to answer some of your questions. Hi Liz, I was dx. 11/04 stage 3c. I went through 6 cycles of carbo/taxol, that gave me a 3 month remisssion, I then started on Doxil, had 6 cycles of that, then after 13 months of remission I recurred and am now in my 3rd cycle of Gemzar..amd at present time my ca-125 is in the normal range, but the Onc. wants to finish all 6 six cycles so thats another 12 tx. None of the tx I was on are clinical trials...they are all old and established chemo, your Mom should have no problem getting this chemo's even down there. I do think I have written to you before about this...but these 2nd string chemos are and were much gentler on me than the original taxol/carbo. I was able to have a life, and kept my hair during the Doxil and so far on the Gemzar. My Onc told me that we now tx for "quality of life"...when the OVCA rears it's ugly head we treat...and when it's in remission we live life, like we did before it was dx. There really are so many chemos out there..and I'm praying they find the one that works for your Mom.....stand strong, and have faith...(((hugz)))..Joanne0

Joanne tks again, yes probably you have told me about this before.. I get confused with so much info. It conforts me to find out that even with reocurrence there is still hope, it`s just so hard. What I`m worried about is that my Mom's reocurrence is in various areas. I'll see what the Dr. says tomorrow. God bless. Lizfloridajo said:Hi Liz, I was dx. 11/04 stage 3c.
