Cataract surgery in younger people after cancer treatment.

Hello. I am in my 20's and had a bone marrow transplant about 5 years ago. Now I have cataracts (from the irradiation chemotherapy), and I am considering cataract surgery. Has anybody else experiences to share regarding this? I had pretty good vision before, and wondering how my life will change. Should my new lenses both be for distance or should I get one near and one far (monovision)? Thanks.

    I was just diagnosed with cataracts at 30. I am currently going through chemo for a recurrance - I was originally diagnosed at 26. I have decided to have the surgery, but I haven't scheduled it yet. From everything I read, it seems pretty easy compared to everything else going on...

    I have opted to get the monofocual lense (or fixed focus) and then I'll wear reading glasses for up close.

    I hope everything is well with you - nice to know someone else my age went through this.
