Same here. I'm heavier now that I was 8 months pregnant. I was told it is partly due to the chemo. And you are right, I'm new to this forum, although I've been on treatments for a year now, but I have found it tremendously helpful and uplifting.

A lot of folks gain weight during chemo - part of it is due to the fact that some folks take steroids during their treatment which tend to cause weight gain, some folks just slow down in their daily activity which leads to weight gain, and some folks (myself included) tend to eat more carbs during chem to (a) fill their stomach with acid-absorbing stuff that tends to reduce the nausea and aslo (b) it's "comfort food" and causes a dopamine reaction.

Try if possible to drink lots of water and increase your physical activity. I dumped almost 50 lbs after chemo.

(I recommend you start AFTER the holidays - ENJOY!)

    Cheers

Oh no, I guess I'm the opposite. I lost weight during chemo because of not being hungry. No steriods. I am gaining weight now because I can taste food again after chemo. My taste buds are back. Slowly getting back to the "good" diet. And yes sponge the holidays are hard. Take care.

    Ileana,
Please don't try too hard during the holidays, just say "Pass the vegies" at a party! For some insane reason, I actually LOSE weight over the holidays...always have....

As far as the 2 years...for me, too...this is the first holiday season in 2 years that I have not been under chemo.

    Hugs, Kathi
