Newbie/Veteran

Hi Folks. My "Newbie/Veteran" description sounds confusing, so let me explain. I recently celebrated five years survival of lung cancer. On the day of what should have been my last visit to the oncologist, I was diagnosed with NHL. I'm having a PET scan tomorrow, and by 11/14 I'll have the "straight scoop" on my diagnosis and treatment plan.
I've been a veteran on the lung cancer board, and now I'm a newbie with you folks. I'll be looking for a lot of help, and I know I can depend on you. I'll be in touch.

    Hi Ernie,

I am so terribly sorry to read of your diagnosis with NHL. It was so wonderful to meet you in Washington and to hear of your victory over lung cancer.

I know this comes as a shock, but I am confident that you will meet the beast head on again and be the winner.

I will stay in touch. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers.

    Hugs,

    Kay

After seeing the results of last week's PET scan, things seem optimistic. Thanks for your concern, support and well-wishes. I'll keep you posted.

Hi, and thank you for your response, prayers and encouragement. I'm meeting with my oncologist on Dec 5th, and I will finally have a firm, detailed diagnosis. When I have that, I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions for you. Things seem pretty positive at this point, so I'll go with that, for now.
    I'll be in touch.

    Hi everyone.
I'm coming up on my third chemo treatment. All seems to be going well. This chemo is NOTHING like what I received for NSCLC. (That was a "whole nuther story".) I have no apparent side effects. The oncologist says that my bloodwork is "fantastic". The affected area, which was initially very firm to the touch, is now much softer, - a sign that the treatment is working. What (mild) pain I did have is gone. I'll have a scan right after the next chemo, which will be more definitive.
So, with things going so well, I'm able to continue my participation in CSN.
Thank you all for your help and support.
    Still pumping out the lemonade!!!

hi there Ernie. that is awesome to here you are doing so well. I was wondering about you. Oh sorry this is Charlene (nikkismom) . Stay strong, attitude has alot to do with it. I was very greatful when my abdomen started to soften up when I was going thru chemo myself. Keep the faith and never never give up we are all survivors.
