Neuroendocrine Large Cell Carcinoma

Hi, I have just found this resource and live in the UK, I have a dear friend in Italy that is suffering from Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Large Cell , speciifcally to the right lung with secondary mediastinal lymph node infection and he has been treated for 8 months with Cisplatin + Gemcitabina (italian name) currently the diagnosis is that the tumor has now grown to 8cm after 3 cycles of treatment not being successful and he has secondary lymph node infections in the lung but no other evidence of spread they have recommended and changed to another round of cisplatin and VP-16 another hospital is recommending radio therapy he is very confused, has anybody had experince with these drugs /therapies , I have also seen alot written about the use of Etoposide with cisplatin..any information/experiences would be most appreciated
