Low Iodine Diet -- Soda and Red Food Dye # 3

I am currently on the low iodine diet in preparation for RAI treatment. I had been told that soda and diet soda are OK so long as they dont have red food dye #3.

I have been drinking diet coke and canada dry diet ginger ale but just noticed that they have artificial caramel coloring. Does anyone know if this is OK?

Thanks.

    Hi,

While researching prior to starting the low iodine diet I found information stating that it is best to stay away from the caramel color. One of the best resources for this diet is the Low Iodine Cookbook that can be found on thyca.org.

    Best of luck,
