Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on my ultrasound results. I went back to my family dr. on Monday and insisted on getting some answers to my symptoms that I have been experiencing. My family dr. insisted that maybe I had a pinched nerve in my back. I refused to settle with that diagnosis. She then said that she would call the radiologist and obtain my ultrasound results that had been performed last Wednesday. After waiting for a while, she came into the room and informed me that they had found a tumor. She stated that it was probably just a fibroid tumor but since it was causing me to have all of these symptoms she would refer me to the gynocologist. I have an appointment this coming Friday. The first thing I told my husband was...see I'm not crazy. Hopefully it is just a Fibroid tumor gone bad, but if it's not...I am ready. Bring it on, I will not let this get me down.

I'm so glad you were so persistent. Makes you want to go to the doctor and say 'see, I told you so!'. You've taken charge of this situation and I applaud you. Now, I'll send prayers and hugs your way that this is in fact an 'innocent' tumor. Be sure to let us know how your appointment goes on Friday. YOU STAY STRONG! YOU'RE AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO ALL OF US TO FACE WHATEVER WE HAVE TO FACE AND FIGHT! LET'S ALL FIGHT 'THE GOOD FIGHT'!

Hi! I'm going to tell you this, so maybe it will ease your mind. When I was told that I had 2 tumors, I told my DR that maybe it was fibroids because my sister had an 8lb fibroid removed. (the scans tell them alot) I was told he did not think that it was a fibroid because it looked like it was coming from my ovary. If they think yours is a fibroid, that is good. They can take care of that and you will be okay. My prayers are with you. Paula
I have a very good friend that knew of my sister's large fibroid. Jokingly, she told me that if they removed an 8 lb tumor from me that we were going to name it and keep it. Ha! I thought that it was cute.0 -
You might want to do some reading on uterine fibroid tumors, and see what the difference is in them-there are a number of types (see http://www.myomectomy.net/types_of_uterine_fibroids.htm for an illustration). There are different ways of treating them, too, so if it's a "simple" fibroid, you might be able to go for something that is not so invasive. I had a myomectomy prior to my cancer experience, but have been reassured many times that fibroids have no relation to cancer. I had at least a few removed, the largest weighing 3.5 lbs.
Good luck with whatever the diagnosis is!0 -
Good for you for not settling for the diagnosis of a pinched nerve!! I had a side ache for months and was told by my gp that it was just muscle cramps. At my yearly exam I was sent for an ultrasound--They found a tumor. At surgery it was found to be not only ovarian but uterine cancer as well. After chemo and radiation I have been in remission for 18 months. The Lord will not give you more than he thinks you can handle. KEEP THE FAITH AND MEET WHATEVER COMES HEAD ON AND BE STRONG-We have lots of survivors out there.0
