On Wednesday they are going to try me on Folfox again. Last time I had a reaction and spiked a high temperature. I've been given a prescription for Dexatheasone (corticosteroid) and will take 20mg x 2 on the day before I'm to be infused.
Anyone used this and had good results in being able to take Folfox.

I took a steroid prior to both of my CT scans. Then, Benedryl an hour before. I also took the Benedryl that evening. You might add that to the mix. My dr. said that it was a great medicine and had won awards, because you can give it without adverse reactions. It worked for the scan, but I didn't have the same reaction to Folfox. Hope this helps. jams

Hi Joyce,
I'm stage 3 colon and currently on Folfox. I have 4 more treatments to go. I haven't had bad reactions to it. Only have had the normal reactions so hopefully will get the last 4 in. I'm given premeds before my first treatment day with the oxiplatin. They give me benedryl and zofran. The benedryl is for the reaction to Oxiplatin. The zofran is for nauceousness. Good luck and maybe have them find out what is spiking your temp if it happens again. I get the oxiplatin the first day with 5fu, the second day I get the levocorin and 5fu. Maybe they can narrow it down. Another chemo they substitute for the oxiplatin is campastor. Take Care and will be sending good vibes.
