There are some excellent classes going on around the country that are FREE and geared towards cancer prevention and treatment/survival. I first read about these classes on the Lance Armstong Foundation site. They are put on by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a group of medical doctors that have banded together to promote preventitive medicine (they have an excellent site - www.pcrm.org). I was about to drive to La Jolla to attend the classes (two hour drive for me) when they suddenly decided to add a series in L.A. (good thing since gas here is $3.40 a gallon!). That still would have been worth the drive.

I've checked out the corresponding cookbook and emailed some questions about the classes and recipes. Sounds really good. The recipes are low fat with very healthy ingredients. There are eight weekly classes. Check out their site to see if they are in your area - www.cancerproject.com. Here is a synopsis:

"Designed by physicians, nutrition experts, and registered dietitians, each class includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage cancer growth, along with cooking demonstrations of simple and healthy recipes that can be recreated easily at home...The goal of this program is to empower cancer survivors, their friends, and their family members with easy-to-implement cooking skills that turn every meal into a delicious dose of healthy nutrition."

Great, I see Whole Foods Market on your list. The home office is located here in Austin. I'll give them a call. We did a tour of the store with a nutritionist during our last CP-3 in April. A class would be great.

    Thanks for the info.
