I was asked "What happens if it comes back?..."

After sharing my happy news with anyone who would listen (and even those who didn't want to...hehehe) I was asked one question that stopped me in my tracks....
"So what will you do if cancer comes back?"
After thinking about it for a minute, I said....'I will fight it again! The toughest opponent is the one that has already beaten you at least once...because they have the emotional edge. For each victory against the beast (even a reduction of a tumor, I consider a victory) we have a stronger emotional courage to keep beating it".

Hey Kathi!

I agree! What else would you do? Not curl up in a ball and give up! You cry a little and then pick yourself up and put up a fight again. Like someone said in an old post. As long as we are breathing or above ground we are fighting this.

Sounds like a question my big brother the surgeon would ask...his beside manner to his little sister needs work....but I love JADot's anecdote except low sugar chocolate..what a waste.

Hi Kathi,
I'm over the what if it comes back and now into the "what if I get a new one". Went to the doc the other day and in the normal course of events I mentioned a problem I have had for a while now and he checked a urine test I had for diabetes in Jan. Wouldn't you know it they mentioned blood in my urine. Now I am scheduled for a cytology test of my urine to check for bladder cancer. Now I have had 7 colonoscopies in eight years and if they have to do further checks of my bladder and if they use the same size scope I am not so sure I want to survive ,how much quality of life is there when your eyes are permanently crossed.(I shudder just thinking about it) Ron.

Aw, Ron, I can definately sympathize...although my plumbing is a little different, I've heard stories...
I met a 43 year old man yesterday, crc warrior, who described his one scope (without any fun drugs, mind you) as "The guy walked in with this big long thing that I thought was going to be plugged into the wall....it was plugged in, alright, but I thought they were trying to remove my prostate by pushing it thru my throat". He said this with much laughter...
