Hello all , I am so frustrated .. I have not had chemo in three weeks as my Platelets are taking there sweet time coming back up . My white cells are great . My red cells look fine . But My darn Platelets Just don't want to play I guess .
Anyways I went in today and received only My Avistan . I have to now wait two weeks before I go in for Chemo As long as my platelets are up by then . My fingers hands and feet are still very numb and my Dr. Thinks I have reached my OXY limit . And wants to take the Oxy out for a few rounds . So treatment # 11 will be just the 5FU/luc/and avistan . Then a Pet/ cat scan on June the 5th .
Everynight I sit outside and stare up at the sky and find my bright star and say my prayers . Well the other night I showed my Son, Who is staying with me this week, MY Big Bright Star .You know what he said "MA thats not a star thats a planet "!!! I don't care I'm still wishing on it . Wishing Hoping and Praying for all of us !!
TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS.

When my husband was on Folfox, his Platelets were below normal the whole time, and much of the time in the 59 range. When it did drop to 52, the onc. put him on 60mg of steroids/day and postponed the treatment for 1 week. He stayed on the steroids for about 3 months as the onc."did not want to reduce the doseage for the home stretch." He also told us, that if the platelets dropped any more, he would send him for a platelet transfusion. His platelets stayed in the 59 range for the remainder of his treatments.
They kept telling my husband to be careful, but it was really no big deal and the onc. told him "we will still do surgery at 50."

Aw, Debra, as small as it is, all I can send is hugs....REALLY BIG ONES, and prayers for your platelets. That was one of the few things I DIDN'T have trouble with...I took Vitamin B6 for the numbness...and REALLY HYDRATED...
And tell your son that you can wish on any darn thing you want to!!!!!!!
Hugs, Kathi -

Oh Debra, sorry bout those darn platelets. Give them some time.. just hang in there and try to stay positive...
and wish on ANY DARN light you want to. Star or planet. You live in the lone star state, so planets have the same wishing power as stars in Texas... tell your son that one!!
Hang in there. jana
