I am still feeling ok, although I walked to my daughters house, it was a little chilly and my lips felt like the were drawing, I can't explain it and my right hand and right eye bother me, anyone else have this. Not a hurt just a funny feeling. It has gone away since I came inside. I will definitely try the mouthwash, I think they told me warm water, 1/2 tsp each of baking soda and salt. If thats not right, someone please let me know. I slept well, even with the pump, it fell off the bed one time. Which scared me!
I hope I'm one of the lucky ones, but will deal with it if not.
Love to all, Glenda

Hi Glenda -
Sounds like you are coping pretty well. All of us who have been on oxaliplatin know what you mean by "lips felt like they were drawing". And funny feelings in hand, arm, jaw etc. A blast of cold air can be really wierd. I once chopped some celery with gloves on - couldn't handle the cold vegetable. I laughed about it - better to laugh than cry. In my case the worst oxy symptoms only lasted the first week - all symptoms gone after a couple of weeks. And my symptoms were transcient - no persistent neuropathy etc once chemo was finished.
Good luck.

Good old oxaloplatin-I called it the twitchy eyes. Usually only lasted a day or two. I never had mouth sores by the way, but I used a prescription mouthwash from day one. Biotene is also good and much more practical since it doesn't need refrigeration. Of course you can't use a cold mouthwash so I was pleased when my friend who had been to NCI said they recommended the biotene. Good luck with that!0

Hi Glenda,
I'm glad you are doing ok. Cold air can hurt or feel weird. My hands get cold when the air is cold. I also have pins and needles the first few days when crying. Pretty weird. Make sure the Biotene is room temp. Funny about the veggies. I have to get someone else to cook the first week. Can't chop, pull stuff out of frig or freezer. You have to laugh, helps the attitude. Keep us up to date on how you are doing. Good vibes and Hugs.
