Camptosar or Oxy?

Has anyone had experience with both camptosar and oxilipatin? My doctor wants to start a new regimen and he suggested these two. Trying to decide which is better, they both sound so yummy! Just looking for feedback and how it went, results, side effects, etc. The doctors can advise all they want but I'd rather hear from people who have had first hand experiences. Thanks for all your help, you've all been great,....Don

Each person is different. Some breeze right through, others have a hard time but for the most part, side effects can for most people be well managed. For Bert, he was on 5fu/leuc/oxilaplatin. He had very little discomfort only some very minor numbing/tingling and cold sensitivity to the tips of his fingers and toes that usually subsided a few days after each treatment. His appetite remained great, no diarrhea, no rashes and he continued working full time although he was quite a bit more tired than usual, which we were told, was to be expected. Two years after treatment, there are no lingering/remaining side effects. Only never really got his energy levels quite back up the way they were before his diagnosis and chemo treatment...but then again, he's also gotten a little older ).....thank goodness.

I've just had my second treatment with Camptosar (I can't use 5FU so this is all I'm getting for post op chemo) It's early days of course, but so far I have had no ill effects. The most common side effect is diarrhea, I have an ileostomy so I may be spared the worst of that. By the time I've had enough experience with this medication to help you much you will probably have decided one way or the other. Please let us know how it goes.
Best of luck!0
