Hi everyone.. I first posted on Nov. 7th about having rectal cancer and mets to the liver, finally I will start chemo - radiation on Tuesday Dec. 13th..I had a new cat scan on Wednesday and today the Dr. compared it to the one taken on Oct. 12th and the tumors have grown and we counted 7 in the liver..This is the first time I have been told how much is in my liver. I went to radiation today and got my behind tatooed..I go Monday at 8:00 AM to have an IV inserted for Chemo then start everything on Tuesday.. This has been quite the waiting time for me..since Sept. 7th when I first saw my MD..I will have 6 weeks treatment then wait a month, take another scan and then hopefully get this tumor removed..In case I am not posting again right away..Have a Merry Christmas..Audrey

I wish you all the best as you start your treatments. I had the same for my rectal cancer. The side affects were tolerable but make sure you mention any to your docs and nurses. There are meds that can be given for any of the side affects.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Hi Audrey,

I had a similar diagnosis to yours back in May ... no rectal cancer, but two large colon tumors and seven liver mets. After six chemotherapy cycles of 5Fu + Avastin + Oxaliplatin, PET scans showed that the liver tumors had disappeared. So, don't forget, that sometimes treatment can really work. Best of luck to you. Come back if you have any questions.

Hullo Audrey. We wish you the very best and hope that like Rodney your treatment will reduce the tumours. Take heed to Maureen's advice too...report ANY side effects to keep your onc. aware of whats happening. There is absolutely no reason to to endure more unpleasantness than needs be.
Have a comfortable and happy xmas, Ross and Jen

    Hi Audrey,
I'm so glad that you're finally going to begin treatment. I remember how the waiting felt when I was first diagnosed, though I didn't wait as long as you have. It was a relief to finally feel that I was doing something to get rid of the cancer. Take care and have a happy holiday!
