Cancer news good, liver bad

Hello, all. I haven't been in here or posted for some time. I was hospitalized in November after throwing up for 5 hours only to find that I had fluid in my abdomen. After CT scan, liver/spleen screen, and a paracentesis (they use a big needle to drain the fluid), I was BACK in the hospital again this whole past week. Instead of bouncing back after chemo, which I finished up in Sept, I continued to go downhill.

Final diagnosis: liver failure. I am into what they call "decompensated cirrhosis," which is a terminal disease. The only "cure" is a liver transplant, but no one will consider me for a trnasplant because of my cancer history. I cannot take any more Avastin or other drugs for the cancer, nor can I do chemo again if it comes back, because the liver would kill me.

I'm tired a LOT, have difficulty walking even short distances, and stairs are a real challenge. If I take my time and rest frequently, it's really not too bad. I am taking diruetics for the fluid build-up and am hopeful that I can manage this with rigid nutrition and supplements.

I am content and at peace. I enjoy life and my grandchildren and children every day. I am surrounded by people who love me. Who could ask for more??

Joyfully,
BB

I want to let you know what a wonderful source of strength and inspiration you have been to me personally. I remember the help you gave me when I was going through my hair loss 'crisis'. Hi Bonnie. If I may quote you gal I think the following truly sums up your determination to fight this battle.
" When we're born, we set out to sea. We get used to calm seas and sometimes want to just stay in port instead of launching out and growing. We grow accustomed to the firm deck under our feet. But when the waters rise and the storms set in, it's easy to be afraid. But what if...what if instead of fearing and clutching to our comfort zones and relying on the solid deck - what if we look across the waves and see Jesus walking on the water!?? How many of us can leave the safety and security of the deck like Peter did?

Your courage, strength and faith Bonnie I know will help guide you on your journey, whatever that holds for you. Huggs fom your ozzie friends, Ross and Jen
