Hi Kathy, Could you give me more info about the Femara you are taking? I am trying to decide whether to take it or take my chances without it. I have completed the 5 years on Tamoxifen. How long have you been taking Femara and is this the only hormone drug you have taken?

Hi nancy! I'm also just finishing my 5 years on Tamoxifen and will begin Femara tomorrow. I'm also concerned about the side effects but I'm willing to take a chance. If it's bad, I'll see if there is another alternative and try that and if it doesn't work out, I'll just pray that I will be ok. Aromisin is supposed to be a very good aromatose inhibitor with excellant results but not enough long term info on it so The MD doesn't want to go that way first. Let me know what you decide to do and how you're doing on it if you chose to try Femara. HUGS!! Cathy0

Hi Cathy, It's so good to hear from you. I think you and I are so lucky to have done well these past few years. We have come a long way. I think I have decided to try Femara for one month and take it one month at a time. My husband fusses at me for worrying about aches and pains when this break through med could extend my life. I know he is right. I must check into the Canada prices and see what must be done to order from them. Femara is produced by a French company so I think it should be safely bought from Canada. thanks for your reply, friend. Stay healthy. Big hug, Nancy0

Hi Nancy
I have been on Femara for about 1 year now and yes that is the only hormone drug I am taken. I was first on Arimidex but I could not take the joint pain. So my onc doctor put me on Femara. The joint pain isn't as bad as when I was on Arimidex but I still have joint pain. I am still very stiff in my legs. I have a hard time getting up when I was sitting for awhile. I take ultraset for the joint pain. I only take it at night because it makes me sleepy. I used to take celebrex, bextra and vioxx but I stopped taken them because of the side effects. If there is any more questions I could answered for you just let me know. Good Luck
