Hi, I just had my second of eight cycles of Erbitux and already I'm getting a pretty nasty rash that is driving me nuts. Has anyone else had it?

    My sister-in-law is on it. She has the rash as well; she has become really sun-sensitive. Are you part of a Clinical Trial? Her coordinator has been really helpful to her....
    I'm not giving you much news.....just confirming that rashes (her is localized on her face) occur with Erbitux.

    Hi - I don't much about Erbitux and rashes, but I have just started Avastin and I know that they are to some extent "competitor drugs" and work a bit differently.

    I think you should ask your onc about the rash. Maybe it is some kind of allergic reaction and if so maybe switching to Avastin would avoid it.

    Anyway, good luck with the treatment.

    I have never been on Erbitux, but my onc. said it would be an option....also that it causes a rash or acne like rash on the face. I have talked to others who have indeed had the rash and it has cleared when the chemo ended.

    Hi. My boyfriend is on it. He got a very severe rash initially but apparently it's a sign that it's working well. He takes antibiotics every day for the rash and uses a cream which I think is called Fucidal (We're in Ireland though so could have a different brand name over there). He still has a slight rash, but nothing like what it was in the begining. It seems to be v effective and his onc is hoping to operate when the tumours shrink a little. Fingers crossed and hope you get on well too. Jo

    Wow, Thanks everyone for your input. I have the rash alright. It has gotten worse. I've had two treatments so far and go into Sloan Kettering tomorrow for my 3rd of 8 scheduled treatments. I was using the cream, and just started yesterday with the antibiotics. I will talk to them tomorrow to get more info. I'm part of a clinical trial, but it is more for hepatic pump therapy. I did Avastin last March 04, I think it helped a lot with shrinking my tumors in my liver, What I have now are mets to the lungs and my onc thinks Erbitux is the way to go. The rash is on my face and torso, it seems to be staying north of the equator (if you know what I mean)
