Good morning all.
Found this in the paper today:
CANADA OK'S OSI LUNG CANCER DRUG
Health Canada, the Canadian pharmaceutical regulatory agency, has approved use of the drug Tarceva for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, following failures of first or second-line chemotherapy.
OSI Pharmaceuticals of Melville, NY makes Tarceva. Tarceva, an oral tablet taken daily, was approved in the U.S. last fall by the Food and Drug Admin. for treatment of patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
The cancer drug has also been approved in Switzerland and the European Commission is expected to make an approval decision within the next few months.
"With our partners, Genentech and Roche, our commitment to further expand the label and use of Tarceva includes adjuvant and first-line treatment of lung cancer in patients with other tumor types and in combination with other targeted therapies"
The FDA is considering OSI's request that the agency also approve Tarceva for the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
Just a bit of info, for what it's worth. I'm not familiar with drug treatments for colorectal cancer that has spread to the lungs.
