Expecting the unexpected.

My mom was diagnosed 4-05 with glioblastoma multiforme. We were not given much hope. The treatments did no good for the tumor. She continued to show signs of going down hill. She finally had a seizure and for the past 2 weeks has talked very little, even acted like she didnt know us or that we were in the room. Cannot feed herself or stand. Her head is in an almost permanent turn to the right. Sunday evening I went to feed her and she could barely open her lips enough to eat. She kept falling asleep after bites and it took along time just to get half her food in. But yesterday she seemed alittle more alert, said a few more words. And today she is so much her old self. The only way I can describe it is that its is like she is back in that body again. Able to look at you and take part in conversations. She even started some conversations oh her own. She laughed again and smiled. It was like she was really with us again. She showed emotions I haven seen her show in months.... She has personality again....has this ahppened to any of the rest of you with your loved ones with cancer? Is this what we can expect from time to time? She was so bad off then to all of a sudden be so there and alive. She can still not stand or feed herself. But the mental alertness is so startling...I am confused. This may sound strange , but I had resigned myself to the way things were, and this throws me for another loop. I dont know what to expect. My husband said it best....its like a roller coaster ride.
