Delayed Mastectomy

My surgeon has refused to consider a mastectomy at this time due to the condition of the skin on my breast. She says it won't heal. I have been through 6 3-wk. TAC treatments, and am currently in weekly Taxol for 12 treatments. Possibly more chemo or radiation after that. The cancer that had spread to other parts of my body has responded very well to chemo, all of it shrinking dramatically, including that in my breast. Has anyone else experienced or heard of this? It appears from reading everyone's story that this is very unusual.
