Hi, I have just been diagnosed with cancer. I'm scared and I just want to get this out as soon as possible. I also want to hear from survivors. I have seen a lot of cancer in my family, and some have survived, some not. I have so many people praying for me and much support at home. Guess I just want to hear some happy endings. Anybody???

    Hi
I am a 5 year survivor of stage IIb. You can survive this disease. I know when you are first diagnosed it is very scary especially when others in your family have not survived. When I was diagnosed my Mom was having treatments for the third time for OVCA. I was very scared that that would also be my life. But here I am today having survived 5 years and no setbacks! There is so much more research and new drugs being developed everyday. Our survival rates are getting higher. I believe that attitude and faith have a lot to do with how well you do. Keep thinking positive and lean on God and your family for support. You are welcome to email me if you feel like talking further. Good luck

Thank you so much. It's been several years since I have been involved with the cancer center and needless to say, I have some catching up to do. I helped my mother for many years with colon, breast and thyroid cancer. 3 aunts and 3 cousins we're in and out of the cancers also. Now I really have no female relatives to accompany me, but I have a wonderful husband and friends that have jumped right in. I am so happy to hear you are doing well. As far as God, There is a special prayer night tonight and tommorrow night for me and many others praying everywhere. I love God. May he bless you Jami
    Thanks again, Debbie

I know your fears and anxiety. And there is not one of us on this earth who has not been touched in some way or another by this horrible disease - either have had it themselves or a loved one, or someone who knows someone. I just lost my mother to cancer and have also lost other family members. But, to my happy ending - I am a 5-year survivor of ovarian cancer! I just hit the 5-year mark in March and I'm so happy. Yes, I will also have it in the back of my mind. I'm thorough with check-ups, tests, etc. But as Jami said, today holds so many promising treatments and medications, even for those who have had a recurrence.

Please keep us informed. We will pray for you for strength and peace in all of this. Please write back.

I recived the news today that I have ovarian cancer. I know nothing about it. How do you know if the ovaries are still intack or if they had burst? I had a ct scan and a pelvic scan? All I know is I have the cancer. I had B/c three yr ago doing fine with that one. I go to the doc this Friday. Do you want to e mail each other and we can compair notes? I just found this place also. I'm scared also.

I know that FEAR. It can be so gripping at times that it is overwhelming. But I'm glad you find this site to help you. I would be happy to e-mail you. Just find my name on the list and my e-mail should be there. Get back with me after you go to the doctor and let me know what he says. In the meantime, I'm sending my prayers and thoughts your way.

God bless you all! I met with the onocologist today. Before I met with him, my regular dr had me set up to see a regular ob/gyn. The onocologist had a few names of a gyn/onocologist, that specializes in this feild.(Needless to say, cancelled with ob/gyn) I will meet with gyn/ono next wed. Meanwhile, my onocologist is sending me for more tests, mammmogram and liver/spleen scan.
Actually, I had started walking about a mile everyday about 6-8 weeks ago. I started having a pain in my right side. It turned into a dull ache, but wouldn't go away. Then I started getting sick at my stomach after I walked very much and had the symptoms of an intestinal flu. My abdomen was cramping all over. Went to the regular dr, he pushed on a few places in my abdomen (it hurt) and he sent me to get a ct scan. I think he was thinking gall bladder or colon.
The onocologist had recognized me and knew all about my family history on cancer.
I absolutely love hearing from you all.
    I'll be in touch.
Thank you and bless you all,
    Debbie
