OKAY ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ONE!!!!!
I know it has been a long whilr since I came here & I don't have the eyes to know what is going on with everyone at all. I hope this doesn't make me appear selfish but I won't take long>(i hope)< Anyway I ent to apppropiate board first & nobody responded to it in 3 eks so I decided to pray for them & it took a lot of living hard to get to where I am today. By saying hard is my way of keeping it all bottled up inside of me & trying to become a shrinking violet, several hospitalizations to even show up here. Please don't fluff me off because I need you guys sooooooooooooooooooooooo much. If my spelling is off or goes that way (ignore that too). So I will go straight to the heart of the matter which is I have liver cancer & it is not a reocurrance of the many I had. This is a hepatatic cancer. I lost a daughter almost full term in the 80s. I have a son who is noe 25yrs old & I am exremely proud of him! A year & half later I wanted a daughter so I did all the things we as women do eat healthy, no drinking, smoking ect...... For all of you who have been there/ you listen to your body (baby too) Anyway around the 3rd trimester the baby was huge & that did not surprize me. It was the fact that she no longer moved when I did. When pregnant with my son if I were laying on my side so did he & when I rolled over he took his time but so did he. My daughter stopped moving entirely & In San Fransisco Ca I was considered a hysterical woman & the Dr even told me I should go home drink a bottle of wine & relax. Eventually I was taken seriously & had a emergancy c-section to a fully formed beautiful baby girl. She was dead ofcourse & I already knew it! I wasn't sewn up properly & was bleeding internally for a while> a long enough while that I was given blood transfisions & I have a rare blood which cannot be replaced with universal blood. Many years later in 95 I found out that I contracted hep c & hep b.... The b I developed a antibody for but the c never went away. Now however the antibidy for b has been compromised causing me to come here tonight. I am not here with a horrific messege. I am here by the Grace of God. My liver should have gone cirhotic years ago but it hasn't. With all the conventional meds before I got to the point of staying on alt meds my liver is still functioning to the best of its ability. So here I am talling those who know me & those who do this baring of my soul as it were. Live everyday the best you can to the fullest. If you believe Praise the Lord with your whole heart in your praise. WE ALL OF US ARE SURVIVORS!!!! Some of us are gone but we know they are waiting for us & where they are. I am sorry it has taken me so long to come here but I am or have been trying to find yet another place to live & it looks like I will be living in a place called Marywood which is a place for Independant Living. I am only 47ys old as the 19th was my B-day this month of March. SO HELLO TO THOSE WHO KNOW ME!!!!! IN THE SOUTH HODIE. As for the new people Hello Again. I will be around more often. There are so many that I could not recognise or I have gas on the brain>he he he
God Bless Each & Everyone Of You
Always With Love cathy

Hello again Cathy! So good to see you but egad, let's keep that liver cancer down, yes???
I know what you mean about being so good and then getting nailed with cancer! *smiles* I was vegetarian, active, etc. and ended up with breast cancer. My father was an alcoholic (dry for 15yrs now) and heavy smoker who was just diagnosed with larynx cancer (w/95% cure rate) at 85yrs old! Perhaps I should take up vodka and Kool menthols, eh?? *smiles*
We do what we can and you have been doing a great job, you follow your gut and your heart, keep up the good work Cathy...
We will always be here for you so keep us in the loop, ok? I am sending you peace, happiness and comforting vibes.
Be well and thrive dear Cathy!

Hi Cathy! Good to hear from You.I have a question,if You don't mind. You've been thru so much,I can't imagine being in your shoes-sounds like you're one tough lady.My question-was there any pain in the liver or how did You find out there was cancer there, what led up to it?Did they just happen upon it looking for something else or what.At the risk of sounding dumb-I've been having problems with my liver-they said i had a fatty liver due to my cholesterol and triglycerides being high for so long. From my research I've found that if not controlled it could turn into cirrohsis(sp) .My sister has cirrohsis, her for a different reason, but she almost died about three weeks ago-she had three tears in her esophagus, almost bleed to death before she got to the hospital-whew that was a close call. She is better now.Anyway I'm really curious as to how they came to determine You had Liver Cancer.
I will keep You in my prayers,Lord knows we can only handle so much at a time-Bless Your Heart!Take care of yourself-and keep us posted.

Hi Cathy. You are just living proof of the strength of spirit that we are lucky to find when we face so much adversity! I have been here for a year, and I am not sure that I have "met" you but, wanted to say hello and tell you to always come here for support. I would not have made many dark nights without this board to help me.mssue said:Hi Cathy! Sue, as for your fatty liver, I have that too. A new doctor is telling me that I am an early diabetic, but, I am REALLY confused. He made his diagnosis not only on blood sugar, which was not really high (fasting 104), but, that my triglycerides were high and my liver fatty. Also, my mother has diabetes 2, her father had it, and three of her four sisters have it. As do their children, many of them, my cousins. So with the family history, and the other things, he is telling me that I have really early stage diabetes. Anyone out there familiar with this? Jan0 -
Hi Cathy:
It's good to hear from you again and my heart goes out to you. You've a lot on your plate and I stand in admiration of your attitude! Keep it up and take the best care possible of yourself (with diet, relaxation, etc.) to help you fight this thing with all you've got.
**I noticed the post about "fatty liver". Just wanted to mention that the adriamyacin, which many of us have as part of our chemo regimens for breast cancer, can cause fatty liver. It's typically transient and mild but can be problematic. Definitely something to speak with your oncologist about!!!
Jan, I'm not informed about diabetes and things such as links between fatty liver and it's possible role in diabetes. I think it may be wise though, to request a glucose tolerance test and see how that comes out and how it correlates with your doctors dx of early diabetes. Can't hurt.
There are other conditions, directly related to elevated triglycerides, and some are treatable and controllable (and can even be eradicated altogether) with diet alone. My husband had a mild form of this years ago and we learned that it can sometimes be familial so we had our son tested several times over the years and he has no hint of it. If you look up, on a search engine, such as google, "Hyperlipoproteinemia", you should find some interesting info, which may be helpful to you. (it's sometimes referred to as "hyperlipidemia) There are several different types of it, but I don't recall how many...maybe 4. Determining which type one has is KEY in successful treatment. I'd want to seriously get to the bottom of this. If your doctor isn't a specialist in the treatment of metabolic disorders/diabetes, etc., then I'd advise a consult with one who is, such as an Endocrinologist. (Take all your tests results, records and your current docs dx along with you)Good luck to you.
Cathy, our thoughts and warm hugs are with you. Please visit often and keep us informed.

Thank you so much for the information. I am running into walls here. The interesting thing is that I asked my regular md over a year ago about the appearance of yellow deposits in the skin on my arms. He said it was nothing but, now as I am reading the info regarding the disease you mentioned, it appears that can be one of the symptoms. I have a hard time with all this. I do need to lose about 20 lbs. If I did that I would be at a good weight. But, 20 lbs is 20 lbs. It appears that diabetes, as evidenced early, or prediabetes, is being diagnosed lower now. If the blood sugar at fasting is 100-126, you are prediabetic and over 126 diabetic. With other factors involved too, like seeing a pattern, not just one blood stick along with familial dispostition, lipids that are high, especially triglycerides. My cholesterol is to die for, really great, but, the trigylcerides are an issue. On one blood draw a year or so back, my tri. was over 300. Again, my doc at that time told me it was nothing to worry about. Well, it is, you know? I am glad that I am seeing a new doctor. I guess if my mom, her dad, her sisters and my cousins were not diabetes 2, I would question this more. I am definately going to see a specialist for this.
It is scary to me. I am doing a blood sugar montior now and I am going to start a medicine for diabetes now. He explained that they are finding that with prediabetes, if you start the meds early, you can perhaps prevent the onset of diabetes. I found it interesting that diabetes 1 is when your pancreas is not making enough insulin and diabetes 2 is when your body becomes insulin resistant. They are very different.
As always, you are a delight and such a great help. I really am so glad to be able to have your input. I respect you a lot. Jan0 -

It sounds like you are doing all the right things and my fingers are crossed for you!!!
Diabetes is one tricky condition...so many ramifications and the details of dx'ing it sound like a big plate of spaghetti. So it's always best to have this kind of thing assessed and treated by the specialists, particularly with your family history.
That 20 WILL come off with a slow, sensible and steady effort so don't get too excited about it...like it has to have come off "yesterday"!
LOL It's a huge plus that your cholesterol number is great!!! You're in far better condition with that than many, many others.
Hang in and please keep us posted.
