stage 3b adenocarcinoma lung cancer
Hello, I am looking for answers similar to you, and first Id like to say I am praying for you. My 64 year old roommate has stage 3b lung cancer that is inoperable and he also cannot have radiation. He went thru 2 rounds of chemo and decided to stop treatment. It has spread to his lymph nodes. He also has diabetes, emphysema, copd, and heart disease. He is on oxygen 24/7. His medical insurance is thru the VA and doctors tell him very little in terms of prognosis. Does anyone have any information they can share with us that will give an idea how long he has and what we can expect? Thank you all, and God bless!

No chemo?
Did they tell you why chemo is not an option at this point? I can understand why they wouldn't irradiate (with it in both lungs, it would probably leave you without usable lung capacity), but I can't imagine why they wouldn't offer up some chemo options. The odds of success wouldn't be high, but I would think that should be your decision.
Also, is it safe to assume you have been checked for the mutations for which targeted drugs have been developed (ALK, EGFR)? If you had one of those, you'd immediately have options, possibly very promising ones. If you have not been tested for mutations, you should be.

The advice XRR gave you is gold. If your friend wants to fight you will find your best hopes in finding the driving mutation. If it is not a useful mutation, look at PD-1, PDL-1 and anti PD-1 trials at clinicaltrials.gov. I think that this website also has a link that will help you find clinical trials.
Edited to add this link which can also be found on this page, in the blue section on the left.

You'll see the person writing added a question this week. This happens a lot. Only way to avoid it is close conversations after a bit.
This post had nothing to do with post you are refering to....... Dan620
