Breast Reconstruction

I had a permanent saline implant put in 2 1/2 weeks ago with a right breast lift. I am a small busted woman but now both of my breasts are even smaller than they were before surgery and I am having a hard time dealing with this two smaller size breasts (I am 51 years old). I had my mastectomy in December of 2003 and had the tissue expander with the temporary implant put in May of 2004. At that time and during the whole course of saline injections the plastic surgeon was going to increase the size of both of my breasts which I was happy about since I have always had small breasts. Anyway 2 weeks before surgery he told me he couldn't make my breasts larger but they would both be the same size. I have been in tears since the surgery and am having a difficult time dealing with these tiny breasts.

    Hello Agroth,

Oh, I am so sorry that you are unhappy!
It can be difficult to know just what to expect or what is realistic when we go into this reconstruction phase... If the surgeon promised that he'd be increasing your size and then backs down and says "oh, well, at least they'll be the same..." Not terribly comforting or forthright, is it?
Unfortunately, I don't know much about implants (I am a single Tram woman) but there are many here who may be able to give you some hope.. perhaps another plastic man/woman is in order.

I wish you all the best and please feel free to come in and keep us up on how things are going. We are here for each other and it's nice to have someone who understands what you are going through.

    Be well!
