V-Day and Relationships or Single
Im having lunch with my sister and nephew. my nephew is pretty funny he asked me and his mom to be his valentines. how cute is that? so my 3yr old nephew is my valentine he made his mom and I cards of course he asked us to write happy valentines day in it but its still cute. I know relationships and dating have been hard to figure out how tackle for me over the past almost 2 yrs since cancer it will always be somethin in my life but now I know that if someone is freaked out by cancer and doesnt want to talk about it then they arent right for me. I have found that somehow when cancer accidently comes up in a convo that there are alot of people our ages who want to know about it and that has helped me just to be able to voice it to them that its a rough road and what its like. Well I want to know how everyones day went!! and any other concerns u have about this topic so let me know!!
*Hugs*

Well, I am married. I got married in 2001 and the like 3 months later I was diagnosed w/ colon cancer. I used to feel like my husband got a "dud" for a wife because of what happened to me. We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary though and here I still am, NED. I know it has been hard on him and he does not show his emotions much. Thankfully, things are OK now.
I am grateful that I have him in my life and I would not want anybody else. Awwwww. No seriously, I do feel very blessed!
Anyway, I was going to go to the store and get something really good for dinner and champagne, etc.etc., but unfortunately, the weather is really, really bad. I live 23 miles from the closest grocery/liquor store and I do not want to risk life and limb to go down there. I live up in the mountains and it had been snowing and now it is raining on top of the snow which = ice!
So, alas, I guess we will have spaghetti for dinner and no wine........Whine, whine, whine. Maybe I should just go anyway?! We'll see.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!0 -
hey no whine is fine gives u more time to do other things. Ice sucks I know we own a ski condo and one year there was an ice strom while we were up there and we slid half way down the one side of the mountian and had to drive back up and go down the other side.shmurciakova said:Well, I am married. Highschool is rough and so are people. It took me awhile to get used to talking and feeling like I could trust people. I lost about 20 people who I thought were good friends now I have 3 good friends.... I realized I wasnt comfortable about talking about cancer with anyone cause I thought they would be freaked. How to approach a relationship I still dont know. I do know that anyone who gets freaked out by cancer and wont talk to you because of it isnt worth your time. It was harder for me because I ended up with nerve damage in my left leg because of a hospital mistake that I wasnt at terms with because it was the same deal with everyone. "what happened to your leg"..... its the same thing oh hospital mistake.... and there were more questions and I wasnt comfortable about how it lead to oh I had cancer. I didnt want to hear the omg Im so sorry.... cause I still hate that word.... I found some people in some classes at college that when they asked and I told and was confident and said how its a part of life and I dealt with it and all that sometimes u find people that want know about it. You never know who you are meeting because 2 of the people had family memebers who had cancer and one was just curious on how it changes life....
I say just remember cancer was in is a part of ur life. If someone does like it then find someone else..... its not somethin you throw out right when you meet someone but I guess if u do find a man u like and in time reveal it and the person may suprise u and it may just not bother them..... as long as what u went through isnt freakin you out then u have nothin to worry about
