I HAD LYMPH NODES REMOVED THREE WEEKS AGO. I HAD SWELLING AND PAIN SINCE . THE TAPE TO COVER THE SITE HURT AND MADE ME RED. PAIN PILLS ONLY DID A LITTLE. I HAVE HAD THIS DRAINED TWICE AND MAY HAVE TO HAVE IT DONE A THIRD TIME. I HAVE FOUND A PRODUCT THAT TAKES AWAY THE DISCOMFORT AND PAIN. NOT ALTOGETHER BUT DOES HELP. I FOUND THIS ITEM AT DOLLAR GENERAL STORE. THERE BRAND IS DG. THESE ARE CALLED COLD & HOT PAIN RELIEF THERAPY PATCH. YOU GET 6 3-1/8" X 4-5/8" FOR $3.50. I HAVE HAD TWO ON TODAY. ONE ON MY BREAST AND THE OTHER UNDER MY UPPER ARM NEXT TO MY ARMPIT. IT FEELS SO MUCH BETTER. HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP OTHERS WITH SWELLING AND PAIN.
GOD BLESS YOU AND AND TAKE CARE. MARLIECE

I had about 17 lymph nodes removed and I had a lot of drainage, wore a bag for a couple of days, but I did not have any pain. I have more pain and numbness now than ever and I hate the feeling, but I did not have much of any pain and honestly, the pain medications that the doctors prescribed, I did not take any of them, my pain was not that bad, but my energy is what was low.

Hi Marlice. I'm glad the patches are helping but I am concerned about whether or not you discussed using them with your surgeon. I remember asking about hot or cold compresses after my mastectomy and lymph node dissection and my doc said no (can't remember the exact reason). Just thought I'd bring that to your attention. Hope your recovery continues!
