unclasified renal cell carcinoma

My dad was recently diagnosed with stage 4 unclassified renal cell carcinoma with metastases. Not a lot of research has been done on this kind of cancer, so I am very interested in hearing from anyone with this diagnosis -- especially about clinical trials producing good results. Thank you.

    My husband was diagnosed last March with Stage IV, metastatic renal cell carcinoma, two lesions in his lung, 3 years after having a radical nephrectomy. After becoming an avid researcher on this cancer, I've learned this is a difficult cancer to treat once it's metastacized, prognosis usually poor. My husband participated in a clinical trial with Interferon injections. Made him very sick with no good results. Currently taking Thalidomide once/day (100 mg), with some results. Currently undergoing radiation to the larger lesion, strictly for palliative care (to make him more comfortable).

    I am very sorry to hear about your husband. I don't know if you are still interested in treatment options, but I found some somewhat encouraging results from a study of tarceva in combination with avastin. My dad started on tarceva today.

    My husband has renal cancer. I am not familar with the type , I get so confused with all the terminology. On May 31 my husband was getting into the car and all of a sudden he screamed out in pain. We went to the emergency room and found that he had a tumor inside his kidney. We got the run around from about 5 Doctor's until we found the right one in November and he finally confirmed our worse fears. Renal Cancer. The kidney was removed in November and it was found that the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes. One of the lumph nodes was removed along with the kidney. After several months we noticed that my husband had a big swollen area in the front of his stomach so he went to the Dr. He had a herination. THe Dr. told him that he needed an exay and a CAT scan. He had both and went back to see the Dr. The Dr shocked him by telling him that he had a tumor the size of an orange that has now connected to the back muscles, colon and intestines. He has to go to the UOncologist on Monday 4/4. Then we schedule surgery, again. They said it has spread so much that they are not sure they can get it all. Someone told me about liquid therapy. DOes anyone out there know about this therapy? If so, Please help. Please we need information. I have heard that it is only available in France and Germany , is this so? Please respond soon , my husband's life depends on it. Thank you
