Prayers and Hugs Bonnie
I had to have a blood transfussion on fri (the 4th)Had to had 2 units. My blood count was down to 8.1. That has happened when I've been on chemo but I've been off chemo now sense the middle of oct. So I don't know what is going on here. I go back to dr on the 10th for lab work again and I'm sure he'll tell me what he wants to use this time for sure for chemo and when he wants to start it. -
The reson he's changing it is because I had a reaction to the carboplatin also. I lost my hair with the taxol and carb. He was also thinking about using Topotecan also. I don't know if he was going to use the Gemzar with it. I can ask my dr. on Thurs when i go. So your hair didn't fall all the way out with it? Couse mine has just growen back in. Its real short right now but filled all the way in.anthwurp said:I have not had Cisplatin, but I just finished with a duo of Gemzar and Topotecan. I was on Carboplatin and Taxotere before then I got an anaphylactic reaction and they had to switch. I founf the Gemzar not to be as toxic to my system. My hair thinned but I did not lose it all this time
Thank you both Anthwurp and Bonnie for answering my post. Its been helpful. -
According to the Human Tumor Assay Journal, the combination of gemcitabine + platinum (either cisplatin, carboplatin or oxaliplatin) is the most important drug combination introduced for the treatment of solid tumors in the past 15 years. Clinical responses have been observed with this regimen which are unprecedented.
