ABVD and sterility???

Hello, my husband is a hodgkins survivor. He was given ABVD for his treatment. His last treatment was May of 1997. We are thinking about starting a family and are concerned about sterility and birth defects from the chemo. If anyone can give us info on ABVD and how it affected your fertiltiy we would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks so much.

hello, i had abvd three years ago and had no trouble with sterility. what stage was your husband in when he was diagnosed?

Hi there, thanks for replying. My husband was in stage 2 when he was diagnosed.

We took a sample in on Friday for an initial exam...the doctor told us she thought he was totally sterile. She said she didn't see any swimmers...:( We are going to do a full SA next week I hope.

This is horrible. I hope the doctor was wrong.

Hi, I was stage three and had the same chemical soup. Next month makes ten years free. When I finished I was also worried about the same thing. My oncologist said the druds didn't cause sterility like the old stuff they used to use. I had it checked anyway and everything was fine. You can always get a second opinion.

I hope everything works out OK.
