Hi Maureen.... Been thinking of you. You will be ok tomorrow. It is ok to be scared.... just remember.... Life will be so much better after the colostomy. I don't know how you have lived like you have for this long now. You will soon be able to cut your stings to the bathroom.
I'll be sending good thoughts your way!!!

Don't worry Maureen... Okay well worry, but know that everything will be fine. You will sail through the surgery. You will heal remarkably well and quickly BECAUSE after tomorrow you will have a life outside the bathroom! And it is a beautiful place. Ooh! When you are recovering at home may I suggest surfing the net for all the cool ostomy apparel? I tell you, the stuff out there is awesome! Having a bag is kinda cool because now I have one more thing to accessorize. There are tons of products for ostomates. For some reason, I was inspired to look around yesterday. Up until yesterday all I had were pouch covers (which are awesome... I have one Halloween themed, one Valentine's themed, one with lace and rhinestones)... Just yesterday I placed an order for awesome ostomy disposal bags, a black lace "Active guard" (for running, jogging, ect) and CeeCee's lingerie for ostomates. Anyways, went kind of crazy cause I had the flu and was stuck at home (that's why I need school!) but there are such useful products that don't make the bag such a pain in the... stomach? He, he, he. Okay, cheap joke but I think I'm cute:).
Seriously, the best of luck to you Maureen and know that you are loved and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Heal well,

Maureen, I will be praying for you. Up until recently I had no colostomy problems. Think that other things are causing the problems. It is so nice to go shop and not stay in the bathroom. While you're in the hospital, just keep thinking about that, NO MORE STAYING IN THE BATHROOM!!! What will you do with all the time??? Just think how much fuller your life will be. Really. I'm not just saying this. I love you and I'm the first to say and know how scary surgery is, but just know that lots of folks will be praying and thinking about you tomorrow. I'll miss you while you're gone. Post as soon as you feel up to it and let us know how you are.
