I AM WORKING FULL-TIME AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL. I WENT BACK TO WORK TO HELP MY MIND IN JUNE 2004.
AFTER BEING MISDIAGNOSED LAST YEAR FOR HAVING AN
INTERNAL HEMOROID AS OPPOSED TO ST.4.COLON CANCER
I HAVE GREAT FEARS. I HAVE REDEVELOPED BLOOD CLOTS
IN MY LEFT LEG AND AM NOW LIMPING WITH MY RIGHT LEG.EVEN THOUGH THE PETSCAN WAS CLEAR IN OCT.2004.
I DID HAVE AN ELEVATION WITH THE CA19.9 TEST.MY ONCOLOGIST STATES HE DOES NOT GO BY THAT TEST.I
NOW FEEL THAT THE CANCER HAS RETURNED AND THEY ARE
NOT DETECTING IT.FURTHUR MORE I HAD THE ILEOSTOMY
DONE AT MOUNT SINAI MED.CENTER IN N.Y.OF WHICH THE
SURGEON TOLD ME HE WILL NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT RE-CONNECTING FOR 2 YEARS SINCE ORIGINAL SURGERY.I FEEL HE WILL NOT RE-CONNECT. IS ANYBOBY TAKING ANY
ANTI-DEPRESSANT OR ANTI-ANXIETY PILLS TO HELP THEM COPE. I AM SEEING A LOCAL THERAPIST.

Hello, My name is Susan. I don't post on here all that often so you may not remember me. I do not have any experience w/ blood clots - so I can't help you there, but from what you have said here I think you need to go to another oncologist. You said that you had your iliostomy procedure done at Mt. Sainai. Is your onc. also there. I know it is a reputable hospital. Where do you live? I think you are justified in being concerned about the CEA. I am not trying to get you more "frantic" than you already are, but obviously if things are caught and dealt with early it increases your chances of being cured once and for all. Also, in my personal experience, a PET scan cannot accurately detect anything under 1cm in size. So if indeed there is something going on w/ you, at this point it would be a very manageable situation. If you are feeling this much anxiety, listen to yourself and go get a second opinion.
As for anti-depressants, I have had a bottle of Wellbutrin under the sink for nearly a year and have not used it. Some people like them and others describe them as "living in a controlled state of desperation". I prefer to take walks, go to yoga, etc. If I ever feel that I have reached my wits end then I may take them, but I am not at that point and neither should you be. You are afraid of things that have not even happened yet and you need to do whatever it takes to get those feelings under control. I know it is cliche to say "be positive", but you do not need to drain yourself with negative, fearfull thoughts. Go get a second opinion, for your own peace of mind.
Best of luck to you, Susan0
