I received my biopsy results this morning and they were positive for recurring colon cancer. I am having a bone scan tomorrow morning and then my medi-port will be reinstalled this week - probably will begin treatment by Friday.

I thought everything was going so well. This disease is a real horror. I just hope it has not spread to my bones.

Thank you all for being so supportive to me these past couple of years. I appreciate all your love and support and compassion. I hope someday there will be a cure.

Hi Kerry, I can relate to the recurring cancer. I had my first surgery in July 2003 and cancer recurred in January 2004. Do you know what treatments you will have yet? I had chemo and radiation, followed by surgery and a permanent colostomy. Do you know how low yours is yet? I hope everything turns out good for you. I wish you luck on your bone scan and that it hasn't spread. I will say a prayer for you.
    Love and prayers, Judy(grandma047)

I am so very sorry. I too thought of you often this weekend and prayed for the best. Please do not give up hope, you beat this beast the first time around and you will beat it again! Where has it recurred anyway? Can they operate?

    horrrible mouth sores
hey guys, my dad is halfway through chemo treatments and the only real bad side effect at this point is horrendous mouth sores. I think i asked this question before and i know i wrote some suggestions that were given, but i have no idea where i put that particular note. At that point my dad's sores were manageable but he's getting to the point where he doesn't want to eat anything b/c of the pain.

    thanks again for your help.

I am so sorry to hear about the recurrence. Sounds like you are in good and aggressive hands. Try not to get overwhelmed and to enjoy all you can. Do good things this week before the treatments start.

Spend time with family and friends and try to laugh. Know you are cared for and will be added to many a prayer list.

I had a recurrance a few months after the original tumour was excised. It showed up on a PET scan and was probably something they missed the first time when they scraped my tailbone. Then they took the whole tailbone just to make sure. After some post-op chemo a shadow appeared on my hip. An elevated alkaline phoshatase level (260 u/l - normally under 135) sent me to the bone scan room. The onc asked me if there was any pain and I told him that was my good leg. Anyway it turned out to be nothing except the lab tech was baffled about my missing vertebrae. Nobody told him.
Like you my first thought was the horror that it had spread to my bones. Not so in my case and hopefully in yours also. They are just being thorough which is good. But it can scare the s**t out of you.
    Aspaysia, hoping for the best.

Hi Kerry, I understand your fears. I just had a reacurrance in Early September. I had been clear for 3 years of colon cancer then had a metast. to the liver, boy was I shocked, had a resection will start chemo again soon. Hang in there stay positive and pray. I will keep you in my prayers. Just take one day at a time you are not alone. I pray your bone scan be negative. Livin

This bloody illness is a curse to live with for so many of us. The fear of recurrence and the uncertainty of all our futures is such a continuous stress that it affects all those in contact with us including loved ones and families. Your recurrence illustrates what so many of us fear but your attitude in teh face of it all is admirable and inspiring. The coming weeks will be hard for you both physically and emotionally and hope I you find the inner strength to deal with what is coming. It sounds liek you are facing up to it well but accept you may need more support over coming months. I hope yo will feel able to use this site and all the fab people oo it for venting your worries and as a shoulder to lean on. We are there for you.

    thinking of you ,

    Hello Kerry -

I am so sorry to hear that you must face this disease again - even though I don't know you, I follow the posts on the website closely, and you have answered many of my posts. It was devastating for me to read this news.

But please don't give up - the bright side of this situation is that you know none of the major organs are affected - which sounds to me like you are still treatable. I am sure you have seen many posts of people who have had recurrences and got through them okay. My mom has had local recurrences and she is doing great(I am keeping my fingers crossed, because she too receives her test results today)

I have you in my thoughts and prayers & I hope that you retain your fighting spirit and positive attitude while facing this new challenge.
