Drooling after tongue amputation

My husband recently had all but the base of his tongue amputated after being cancer free for nearly nineteen years (a replacement flap was created using tissue from his arm). He is constantly trying to keep from drooling on himself and everything around him. I know he is frustrated by this. Does the drooling ever go away? Thanks!

    I had my tongue totally removed on June 20,2004 and the drooling has gradually subsided.I still carry a supply of paper towels(stronger than kleenex)just in case and have lately even gone back to wearing my upper dentures.Yes the drooling is annoying but considering the alternatives it's just another small bump in the road.Keep a positive attitude and enjoy each day we are given.You've made it through the hard part.Now you can enjoy life again.God Bless. john k
