Anyone else surviving stage 4 after one year with no Tumor Re-Growth?

I had a stage 4 tumor removed over a year ago. The doctors seem amazed that I'm still here and with no sign of re-growth to this point. Just wondering how long someone else might be going without it coming back. Thanks...Mary

    I will have to assume you are talking about stage 4 glio blastoma... I also have stage 4 glio blastoma,andwas dx backin July of 2003, I had a resection back on Aug 21st of 2003, then started rads and chemo. They gave me 12 months. But as you can see I'm still here. I went about a year with no new growth of the tumor. Was taking temadar, and that worked. I have just switched over to CCNU, and a couple of other chemo drugs that havelong names... The reason is, there was some slight growth, along with the presence of a new tumor on the 3rd anterior ventricial. But back to your question... Yes, there are cases where it doesn't come back. I know of one lady, and it's been over 5 years.
    Keep a positive attitude, no pitty parties.. I gave my burden to God, and HE has carried me through this.

    My wife was diag with GBM4 in October 1997 and other than some side effects is doing fine. I know there are alot of factors to consider but she had a standard resection, external beam radiation and went through a clinical trial for chemo which was a standard PCV plus an experimental drug called DFMO. Her pathology also is unique for GBM. The portion of the tumor (about 3.5 by 5 centimeters) that was GBM was surrounded or encapsulated by a margin of AA3.

    I had GMB4 resection 1/8/04, unfortunately they weren't able to get the entire tumor but w/post surg radiation and chemo. I'm still around and my condition is considered stable @ this point; original prognosis was 9-12 months. Still taking Temodar and will continue that until something better comes along/my brain doesn't respond any longer. I figure God doesn't give us more than we can handle and I'm determined to handle this!
