A Long Bumpy Road

After his divorce with my mother, it was just him and I, we went through happy and sad times together. It took him 7 yrs to get a job, but the week before he started, he was diagnosed with Kidney failure. Another 7 yrs passed and he decide to go to college learn computers.
Then three months ago, he wasn't feeling so well. He started having pains in his throat/chest whenever he tried to swallow food or liquids. In that week, he ended up in the emergency. He was in the hospital for four days.
When he came home, told me he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, I didn't know what to think, what to say. Then the doctor decided that surgery was best to remove the cancer. On June 12 was the day they were going to remove it. I spent all day at the hospital with my aunt. He spent eleven days in ICU. The operation was successful.
I visited him as much as I could balancing school and work. When they released him,I was alone to take care of him. The first few nights were the worse. Those two months I had to bring him to emergency 3 times. When he was released he went from 140lbs to 120lbs in less than a week.
In the middle of august a VON nurse hooked him up with a feeding pump. And since then he gained 128lbs. He's a very lucky man that the cancer didn't spread to his stomach.
I'm 19 years old and I'm trying my best to help him out. Some nights are great and some nights I feel like breaking down. He's still in a lot of pain and he cant take anything for it, because the pain killer can give him a heart attack. I try to be positive for him, because he's not. He's very hard on himself and sometimes hard on me. I love him but he's driving me crazy!!
He needs to gain weight but I'm running out of ideas...
If anyone knows of a recipe book or a site that has recipes that would be great!
