I have a growth on my vocal cord which was supposedly caused by a previous surgery when the anesthesiologist put the breathing tube down my throat. It "lit up" in a recent PET, and I am now
scheduled for surgery. I would like to share information -(pre-op/post op)regarding this type of surgery. Is there anyone on this forum who has had this surgery? My doctor assures me it is quite common, and that I will have a sore throat for about a week, that's all..but he has to give me a general anesthetic because of the gag reflex. Bud

    Geez, Bud,
Put the tube down the wrong pipe??? Hope someone called the guy to task!!! Sorry to report that I'm not familiar with the surgery; looks like your singing will be on hold for a bit. We'll be waiting to hear the results.
Seriously, though, hang in there. You must be a rock given all you've been through. Judy

    Hey Bud,

Geez, you have had quite a year my friend. Hang in there. Seems like we have to fight dragons from all directions sometimes - but we're tough. Let us know how it all comes out. We'll be waiting to hear.

If you make another trip to San Antonio - you must call.

    Hi Bud,

I don't know anything about throat surgery, but we will be thinking and praying for you. Hopefully, the sore throat will not be too severe and you will be out and about soon.

    Please keep us informed.

    Thinking of you,

Sorry to hear that you have to go through with surgery again.
My mom had growths in her esphagus and had surgery to remove at age 75. She was in and out of hospital same day. She had to eat soft foods and mild foods.
Don't know if this is the same type of surgery. Her throat felt a little irritated for a few days. She was given a general anesthesia and didn't really remember or feel a thing.
Don't know if this will help.
    Best of luck to you.
