Not far from my heart
I just sifted through about 12 pages of posts! How I've missed yall! The last few months have been crazy! Too long and convoluted to get into all the details, but I haven't had lung surgery yet. Back in May, that was the plan, but we couldn't pin down a surgeon, then my tumor markers were rising, then my oncologist took off to Florida... Anyways, I have a PET scan on the 19th and if the cancer is confined to the lungs, we will proceed with surgery by the end of August. You gotta love the Quebec health care system. We talked about surgery in mid-May and I might finally have it at the end of August! Sigh! It's a good thing I'm a patient person... Oh well, good things come to those who wait, right? During all this hoopla (I also have changed chemo regimes - from oxali/Xeloda to FOLFIRI) I did manage three vacations, so I feel sheepish complaining. I do want the surgery over and done with, though!
Although, I have been gone, none of you have been forgotten. I keep all of you in my hearts and on my mind. I share your amazing stories and sense of humour with other cancer survivors in my unit and it makes us all feel better. This board certainly heals my spirit and keeps me going. Thank you for all the strenght and inspiration you all offer. I'm glad to be back!
Lots of love,
Andrea
p.s. Say a little prayer on the 19th that the scan is good... I can use all the help I can get:)
