problems with memory

Hi Amber,
Michael here. I had leukemia when I was 21. I am now 30 and still have memory problems! I am in school right now trying to earn a degree in Oncology Social Work. Remembering, learning, studying is difficult for me from radiation and chemo. Talk to your doctor about your memory issues. Someone else here mentioned a pill called Ginko-something or other. I think I am going to look into that. Take care.

Hi Amber,
I am 26 and only 1 year out of chemo/radiation and know how you feel. Sometimes I think I am going crazy with the things, especially details, that I completely forget about. This isn't cool for someone who's mother has Alzheimer's, you never know which one it might be. :-). In either case, if you hear of anything, or if anyone on the site has any good ideas, please post them!! I will talk with my doc too, but it never hurts to hear from the community.
The stuff Michael is talking about is Ginko Biloba and some people do believe that it works. I know it was one of the alternative therapies that my mom was on. You just need to be careful since it is not regulated and can react with some medications. It is one thing I will probably mention to my doc as well.

Yep... Alzheimers runs in my family too. But I talked to the docs and they are firm with their decision that it is not alzheimers and just a side effect of treatment (in my case). have you talked to your docs about it? Take care.

Hi Amber,
I am 27 and currently on chemo for my second round of breast cancer. I have a horrible memory right now. The last time I took cancer it took me about two years to get my memory even close to where it used to be and look at me again, I have chemo brain. I guess it is something I have gotten used to. I find putting things in the same place, making notes for myself, or having my family remind me of things has really helped. Kind of a pain I know, but I guess it beats the alternative.
Take care!
