Hi everybody, as some will have read my husband Ross who is 28 was diagnosed with bowel cancer a few months ago. He had his operation not long after that and is now undergoing chemo for 6 months. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing their stories here because reading them has helped us both so much. Ross is doing great and recently got a promotion to Sergeant. Things feel good again, not normal because life will always be better after this happening. We have so much more appreciation for just 'being' now. Best wishes...Love Rebecca

    Hya Rebecca--if I am correct you are also in OZ?Great to hear Ross is doing well--how is he handling the chemo?

    You said it so well, things will never be the same, but I do feel that whatever happens in life is now colored by the fact that we are surviving. Glad to hear all is going well. Congrats on the promotion.

    That is such good news!!! I hope that Ross has no problems with his chemo...and that the six months fly by for you.

    You are so right, none of us will ever be the same after this changes our lives....as my husband said, life is too short..use the good china! A real metaphor for life.

    Hello and I am so glad to hear that your hubby is doing well...mine is too and that makes me, just like you, very happy. Yes, life will never be the same but there has been good that has come out of a cancer diagnosis and that is to treasure with all your heart what you have and life each day to the fullest, as God intented. Most importantly, for me, is that it's okay to let that "other person" know how much you really, really care.

    Congrats to both of. Kelly has kept me informed of your progress through your email correspondence. you progress and positive attitudes have been very inspiring to watch. I'm not convinced in myself that positive attitudes change the actual course of the cancer but they certainly change your experience of it and what effects it has on your life. I like your view of it as having some positive effects in making us appreciate the future so much more. I am due for surgery in two weeks now and am looking forward to getting this damn thing out of my body so I can get on with the rest of my life much like Ross sounds like he has. Keep us informed as stories like your own help us all.
